It looks like we’re playing catch-up again to let you all know what’s been going on lately. Life since our little Thanksgiving break has been a little more than crazy, and I have to admit that a few days ago it dawned on me that I hadn’t been updating everyone about the activities of our daily life. My apologies. I’m going to claim Mommy-Brain. I’m sure it’s a real thing.
Well, our Thanksgiving was a wonderful little break from our normal routine. We drove down to Florida to spend the holiday with my parents and David’s grandma. My parents were excited to see what new tricks Cassidy had learned since they had last seen her, and for David’s grandma, it would be a first time meeting. Cassidy did wonderfully on the drive down to Florida. She doesn’t sleep as much in her carseat as she used to, but she did surprisingly well for being trapped in that aweful carseat for 13 hours!
David’s grandma, and his aunt, uncle, and cousins were able to come over to my parents house for Thanksgiving dinner. David and I did our part in stuffing and preparing the birds for our meal. I’d always thought that roasting a turkey was a very daunting task, but it turned out to be a lot more easy than I’d thought- and fun too.
David’s grandma was immediately taken with Cassidy and loved holding Cassidy on her lap and getting her to smile while chatting with her, singing a song that she sung to David and his brother when they were little,or holding her up to the piano so Cassidy could plunk out an original composition for our enjoyment.
We gave Cassidy her first solid food while we were in Florida and boy did she enjoy it. Our little girl is growing up so fast!
Another highlight of our time was taking a little trip to visit the quaint town of St. Augustine. It was fun strolling the cobblestone streets, checking out little shops, munching on fudge, and listening to passersby say to each other how cute Cassidy is. I know I’m just a proud mommy, but it’s nice to see other people enjoy our baby’s ready smiles. I hope that her smile will always stay so sweet and ready.
