On Saturday we did something out of the ordinary for our family. We put away our list of ‘to do’ things and decided to spend a family day together. We slept in late (well, David did… Cassidy was still ready for her breakfast before 7) and spent a leisurely morning drinking coffee and hanging out in our pjs. We ate Chicken Taco Soup (which was a super delicous new recipe) while watching highlights of “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” Then, after Cassidy took a short afternoon nap, we gave into the beautifully enticing 70+ degree day and went out on a family walk.
The sun was warm and golden, the breeze was gentle and held just the right amount of crispness. It was the perfect day to grab a caramel macchiato and head to a local park. After being cooped up at home with Mom most days, Cassidy loved being out and about. Her short nap had left her very drowsy, but she was too busy watching everything to fall asleep in her stroller. Her little eyes seemed to take in every sight along the path. David and I enjoyed taking pictures (yes, MORE pictures) of her and helping her discover autumn- i.e. fall leaves are pretty, but not yummy.
Although I know that Cassidy won’t remember our fun, lazy Indian Summer day together, I think it did all our hearts good.
