We’ve come to learn that packing lightly when you have a baby is just not going to happen. A six day trip? Ok. We’ll need at least 8 pairs of pajamas, 12 outfits, probably a hundred diapers (give or take a dozen), blankets, bedding, towels, and washcloths. The list just goes on and on -and so do the trips to the car to pack all these items.
After navigating the challenge of packing for our trip, David loaded up the car, we strapped Cassidy into her car seat and took off down the road. There was no shortage of entertainment on our 9 hour trip to Missouri. Cassidy talked to us from the backseat -”Ha, Ho, Huh…”, David and I had a chance to just sit and talk in a way that our schedule (and Cassidy) hasn’t really allowed for in quite some time, and our eyes soaked in the color of trees reaching their autumn peak. It was an absolutely beautiful drive.
We had a great time in Missouri. We visited with many different friends, made some new ones, attended some really encouraging meetings, and introduced Cassidy to everyone. I know that we say that Cassidy is a trooper all the time, and I don’t want her to get puffed up or anything, but she really did well with being handed off to many people, missing almost every normal naptime, not getting much of her regular playtime, never being in bed on time, etc. She is our pride and joy for sure -and so stinkin’ cute!
We really did have a great time visiting with friends- new and not so new. Everytime we left one gathering or another, David would look at me and say, “I like them. They’re good people.” And so they are. We are so blessed love and be loved by so many good people.
